Politicians should stick to the party they are elected on

The Ports Minister made an encouraging statement recently. He right said there should be no place for fear. Elected representatives have the responsibility to take up issues faced by the citizens and put them before the government of the day. How one hopes all politicians would understand this. Also, our elected representatives need to respect the wishes of the people by sticking to the party from which they have been elected and not desert it for greener pastures. The people would like to see a democratically elected party forming the government rather than a government made up of defectors and rebels from another party. We have witnessed this happening in several states in recent times. It’s time the people put an end to this party hopping. Dance of democracy should we call it, we need to put an end to this. We need to extract from our politicians some sort of bond. Sadly, today, morals and ethics in politics have been thrown to the wind. It’s time we get our democracy back on track.
