Poor and needy must be helped as Covid surges

There is no doubt the  highly infectious mutant strain is causing mayem  in India due to election campaigns,  festivals like Kumbh Mela where safety precautions of SOPs are thrown to the winds. People must also be blamed for letting their guard down and government not  enforcing SOP guidelines  where i most  required. Constitutional amendments could have extended the term of state and local bodies under these circumstances but personal ambitions and piwer politics  take precedent.

People attend rallies  of their own will subjecting themselves to danger of infections  apart from  those that are hired, motivated, threatened to swell the numbers to demonstrate massive support.

It is the poor, marginalised voters who have to bear the brunt,  as rich, powerful   influential  have all the facilities needed for treatment at their fingertips .

Putting aside  personal animosity  and  blame games,  the political parties  must stand united to deliver the best possible  assistance to poor and needy.

It is gratifying that nations across the world  including China and Pakistan are volunteering help, which must be coordinated and distributed fast and efficiently .
