Preserve Arpora govt primary school

GPS Arpora was established in 1913 and is situated in Diwanbhati and Vegaswado, Arpora. It is managed by the Department of Education. The school consists of grades from first to fourth. It is attached to an Anganwadi section, and Marathi is the medium of instruction. The school is accessible by all-weather roads and has two classrooms for instructional purposes. It has a pucca boundary wall, which was constructed by former ZP member and current ward member Augustino D’souza.

The school has electricity and a functional tap water supply for drinking water. It also has toilet facilities. However, there is no playground. This is surprising, as most schools have playgrounds. The school also lacks computers for teaching. This is a shameful question. The authorities must consider this.

The school has been in existence since the Portuguese era and needs to be reconstructed with a terrace roof. The current roof is made of old Mangalore tiles. The government should take note of this. The vicinity is becoming commercial, so the public should be careful. The primary school must remain in its original location and be beautified as a landmark of learning.
