A prominent pastor of a Christian sect from Sodiem-Siolim was swiftly arrested based on some flimsy accusations of alleged illegal religious conversion and later released on bail in Goa.
Sawant has now said that his government will enact an anti-conversion law in the upcoming monsoon session of the Goa legislative Assembly. Well, this clearly shows that the above mentioned pastor's drama must have been surely produced/directed by Sawant himself to desperately bring in this anti-conversion law on the lines of some BJP-ruled states and to slowly start harassing all the Christians, a la UP-style in Goa. Now, whether the above mentioned pastor is a genuine religious leader or a money-making fraud, I feel that this should be decided only by all his die-hard devotees/followers. And yes, this whole propaganda about the so-called ongoing forcible religious conversions in the state is nothing but a myth. I think that Sawant should first stop frequently visiting his own personal favourite self-styled swamis/babas to touch their feet/ seek their blessings and then start advising people to stop visiting or seeking the blessings of certain religious leaders (including the above mentioned pastor).
