Reports stating that 85% of posts advertised for LDC at GMC have been listed for Sattari and Poriem candidates is shocking. Giving jobs due to extraneous reasons at the decision of political interest is shameful.
Many parents in Goa sacrifice a lot to educate their children. It's very sad when people with no merit but with money or sponsors and political influence get jobs while parents of meritorious and hardworking students who cannot afford to pay bribes have to bear suffer.
This shows that jobs are allocated based on bribes and patronage. Constant attempts to subvert the transparency regime appear to expose the real intent of the government.
If the candidates are selected by any criterion other than merit and efficiency, the public authority will suffer for all the times to come.
The constitutional values which undergird Articles 14 and 16 mandate that selection processes conducted by public authorities to make recruitments have to be fair, transparent and accountable.
Recruitment to public services must command public confidence. In these days of statutory transparency, public authority should give reasons why a candidate was not selected.
It is high time our chief minister Pramod Sawant takes note of the direct allegations made by a member of his own government regarding bribes taken by the minister and acts lest more damage is done to the government.
