The vendors at Rawanfond, under Navelim constituency are asked to vacate their shops, gaddas by December 27 by notice issued by Aquem Baixo panchayat. However the said vendors are all locals and are into business fof more then 15 yrs. The shops have been on roadside and is not blocking any roads and have paid daily sopo. The local MLA and Sarpanch are targeting few of the vendors and are not supporting them even though some of them work for their party. As per information the vendors are here for more than 15 years and some are senior citizens who are sick and require medicines to live normal life. Many have complained the notice is issued without hearing their plea. The locals demand rehabilitation or alternate site for business to survive. It is also learnt that land is acquired near Konkan Railway station for bus stop and same may be allotted to present vendors at bus stand. The government and panchayat should come up with solution for these vendors and give alternative place or continue with the existing place so that their livelihoods are not lost.
