The very name of cancer instills fear in everyone. Now, there seems to be no harm in reducing this fear, as Russia has claimed to have developed a vaccine for cancer. This mRNA-based vaccine is expected to be available for use in the early months of next year, as stated by the Radiology Medical Research Centre under Russia's Ministry of Health. This means that 2025 will begin with a ray of hope for cancer patients and the entire world. Efforts to eradicate cancer are ongoing in western countries. Scientists at the University of Florida in the United States had tested a vaccine on patients with brain cancer, showing positive results. The patients' immunity significantly improved within two days of receiving the vaccine. In Britain, trials for a vaccine targeting skin cancer are underway, and the results are also promising. Currently, it seems that Russia has taken the lead in developing a cancer vaccine. The vaccine was developed using genetic components obtained from patients' tumours. Each dose of this vaccine costs Russia around Rs 244,000 to produce. This mRNA-based vaccine could be a boon for future generations in preventing cancer.
