Restaurants need to maintain hygiene

Hotels and restaurants that consistently maintain high hygiene standards not only ensure a pleasant experience for guests but also distinguish themselves from competitors and safeguard the region’s tourism reputation. 

However, some establishments, in Patto, Panaji, have been observed with unhygienic surroundings. Such businesses must recognize their responsibility to keep Goa clean, safe, and attractive.

Poor cleanliness is often perceived by customers as a breach of trust, leading to negative reviews and long-term damage to a brand’s image. Regulations should therefore ensure that premises are clean, well-maintained, and designed to support proper sanitation. Adequate workspace, safe food storage, and practices that prevent contamination from dirt, pests, and harmful microorganisms are essential.

Regular hygiene inspections not only boost customer confidence and footfall but also help prevent the spread of foodborne diseases, which often arise due to poor hygiene awareness. The 2019 FSSAI mandate requiring hygiene ratings to be displayed should be strictly enforced, alongside continued FDA inspections to curb violations.
