Preliminary findings had pointed to overcrowding and gaps in crowd management as key factors behind the incident. The issue was also raised in the Goa Assembly, with assurances from the government that corrective measures would be implemented. While committees were reportedly formed to review safety protocols, questions persist about the effectiveness and execution of these measures on the ground.
As the festival approaches, there is a pressing need for authorities to present and implement a clear, comprehensive action plan. This should include robust crowd control systems, adequate police deployment, emergency response readiness, and strict monitoring to prevent any untoward incidents.
