Restore Goa's rich and ancient heritage

Curdi village in Sanguem taluka recalls the rich heritage and sacrifices made by the villagers in 1970 to surrender their mother earth, fertile lands, developed areas and structures etc. when the Government planned to provide water to South Goa by constructing the Selaulim Dam. There are historical monuments, caves, rock carvings dating back to 10,000 BC. The sorry state is of Laxminarayan temple, originally known as Narandeo temple at Vinchundrem village, Sanguem taluka. Government of Goa is enthusiastic and even made budgetary provision to rebuild the destroyed temples. It will be a great favour if the Government take up the restoration of old, pre-Portuguese arrival temples which are left open to the vagaries of nature to be destroyed.  It is earnestly required from the government to employ energy and money to restore Goan rich heritage rather than create divisions.
