Rights and duties of pet parents

Last week a lady travelling from Delhi by air opened the cage containing her dog and kept it on her lap because it was making some weird sounds! Seeing some of the passengers panicking, the crew requested the lady to keep the dog in the cage but she refused. At Dabolim a case was registered against her. Just because pets are permitted in the cabin does not mean that the owners behave irresponsibly and put others and the aircraft at risk. To prevent such incidentes, crew could lock the cage at the departure gate and give the key to the passenger after landing at the destination.

Pets are allowed in housing societies but with caveats that they do not annoy and harm the residents. But many a times this is not the case with the owners allowing the pets (mainly dogs) a free run and use of the campus and do not use muzzles and/or leashes. When pet owners have rights, they also have their duties to clean the mess made by their pets and safeguard the citizens from any nuisance or injury that the pets may cause.
