The decision by State PWD Minister Nilesh Cabral and Union Road’s and Highway Minister Gadkari to prioritize road safety is welcomed. Yes, we, the citizens of this country, need pothole-free roads and speed bumps with various road signs. This will reduce the number of accidents in the State. Cabral has passed through Chandor several times and is aware of the conditions and requirements of the village’s roads. However, not much has been done to improve the roads, which should last for years.
The locals of Chandor have appealed to the PWD department and the Chandor-Cavorim Village Panchayat office for speed bumps with proper signage at various spots in Chandor. Unfortunately, the government has consistently failed to address these concerns and ensure public safety on the roads. The old signage displays different directions, and there are no signs near the zebra crossings near the church. We hope that PWD Minister Nilesh Cabral and his department will prioritize resolving the long-standing issues in Chandor.
