In India so far 26 cases of electric fires involving EV scooters have occurred. Three have claimed lives. Twenty took place in transport vehicles. This is a very serious matter and all sales of EV scooters must be on hold. The same has occurred across 4 brands. The CEOs have made lame excuses instead of shutting down operations. The EV scooters must be 100% safe before resuming sales. Minister of MoRTH, Nitin Gadkari, has said in the Lok Sabha, that the fires are due to elevated temperatures! Is this therefore acceptable? Because he gave a reason which in no way saves lives at stake? Our Goa Transport Minister made an equally dense statement advising citizens to 'buy' these unsafe vehicles!
Tourism and danger
alert for villages!
The CM has just stated that there will be a single window clearance for tourism business. Anyone --meaning from anywhere in India--wanting to start such businesses can apply here. Goa’s unwanted and dangerous tourism business is the massage parlours and spas which are invariably prostitution joints. No one can stop or arrest the culprits. Besides, villages are small places and young children can see these goings on. Do you want your children in these lines? The DCW- Delhi Commission for Women this week busted another such joint where there was an attempted rape. The chairperson said there were 1000s of such joints which they caught. She further said that the accountability of the Delhi Police and MCD needs to be fixed in this matter and the kingpins behind the flesh trade be arrested along with the officials colluding with them.
Goa’s new DGP comes from Delhi and knows this problem well. He was in Goa before and knows this problem very well but studiously ignored mentioning the same while claiming that Goa is no longer synonymous with drugs. The Goa Commission for Women must learn from the DCW and be more proactive. Villages must send a resolution to the Govt that no such business be cleared for their villages before it is too late.
