Save Camurlim village and hills from mega projects

Our panchayat  has given permission to this big builder lobby for construction on hills without considering villagers and their sentiments and rights. Such a huge construction  on the hills of Camurlim will destroy the ecology and biodiversity of Camurlim and put all the villagers’ lives at risk. We are much dependent on its resources. Our village has a very unique topography, a thriving ecosystem: it is sustained with the plateau right on top, harbouring biodiversity. Then we have a  slope covered with trees, medicinal plants, cashew plantations, natural springs, etc. Down the slope are the fields cultivated by all the surrounding villagers and then we have the Chapora river. All the villagers are dependent on the ecosystem to support their livelihood. We are on the verge of losing our culture and identity with this builder lobby coming and taking permission fraudulently and destroying Goa in the name of development. The builder lobby has no interest in preserving the ecology of Camurlim village or its resources. So we all Camurlikars have come out together to save Camurlim  from such mega destruction.
