Chief Minister Pramod Sawant while speaking at a event to commemorate the 150th birth anniversary of Birsa Munda on last Friday was heard making some allegations against the Christian missionaries, accusing them of forcibly converting people of other faith (especially tribals) into Christianity under the pretext of praying for the sick and through faith healing practices. Well, if what Sawant has said is true, then how come a large number of Hindus are still a educating their children mostly in missionary-run schools in different parts of India/Goa? How come they are still taking treatment in missionary-run hospitals without fearing forcible religious conversions? The one thing I know about Sawant is that when everything fails, he tries to play his favourite trump card of religion to distract people from his own failures. Well, Sawant should first stop running after some self-styled 'babas/swamis' to seek their blessings and then tell people to stay away from Christian missionaries by spreading his own false narratives against them. Lastly, he should tell as to what steps he has really taken so far to uplift the rights of the tribals in the state.
