The time sought by State Bank of India on reporting on the Electoral Bonds issue by 3 months is not proper particularly in the context of the Lok Sabha elections round the corner and the schedule for the same likely to be announced this month. Giving a very confusing and long-winded technical explanation as to why they cannot give the data is nothing but a clear case of obfuscation calculated in cahoots with the incumbent government to block the information.
This also shows how much our banks and public institutions have been compromised and sing the government tune when called to reveal embarrassing information. The least that SBI could have done is show the work-in-progress on the Supreme Court order and show some interim results which could clarify the difficulty they have rather than simply asking for a 3 month extension.
