Scrapping SSC will deny youth jobs based on merit

Politicians are aiming to make Staff Selection Commission dysfunctional.  Earlier, it was decided to do recruitments through the SSC which would be transparent and merit based.  But now the idea of scrapping SSC and to revert back to department-wise recruitment, is very unfortunate.  This change may allow the ministers concerned to ensure candidate selection of their choice to strengthen their electoral base. And there will be a room for commission/bribe for a job too. Already there are several allegations of recruitment scams in the department like PWD, Police, Collectorate, Health.   This not only deprives deserving candidates of their rights but also disturbs the spirit of democracy and damages the social fabric.  If SSC is scrapped, then very next day itself, people will start queuing up in front of the residences of MLAs and ministers in the hope of getting government jobs.  A large percentage of youths aspire to join government jobs, so ensuring a level playing field and transparency in recruitment is of extreme importance.
