I am surprised to learn from a news report that a senior citizen card will now be delivered to the applicant’s doorstep within 24 hours, or a maximum of 48 hours, by the Directorate of Social Welfare, Panaji. Only two months ago, I applied for a duplicate card and, after paying a fee of Rs 25, was told that it would be sent to me after 45 days. However, I received the card only after 50 days, by speed post, and that too after making several phone calls which went unanswered.
