After one year of Shinde-led government in Maharashtra, NCP leader Ajit pawar led a vertical split in the party and joining the government thereby leaving NCP in shock.
As a nephew of Sharad Pawar it's not surprising that Ajit also wanted to be in the limelight.
Along with Ajit, Chagan Bhujbal has also joined the government and has claimed to have support of 40 MLAs from NCP. Ajit being offered Deputy chief minister post has taken oath in Raj Bhavan.
It's also learnt that the move comes in the backdrop that Ajit is under ED scanner on his Mills business across the State in the name of his wife and hence may have decided to take the step to save his skin.
In the near future, Ajit is also likely to join BJP altogether to offset the pressure from law enforcement agencies. It's now time to wait watch if other NCP leaders also follow suit and join Ajit. President of the party Sharad pawar had recently announced his resignation but was not accepted by party leaders.
With this move, Ajit will be the new king maker in Maharashtra politics and will be in the spotlight for the days to come.
