Attempt to stoke communal passion

The recent incident where 60 kg of beef stored in an outlet in Chinchinim were rendered unfit for consumption has raised eyebrows.

The owner a Muslim had stocked beef for Eid festival and was shocked to find that petrol had allegedly been poured on the beef thereby rendering 60 kgs being unfit for consumption.

The locks were broken, CCTV disabled. The motive is a mystery as the owner enjoys good relations in the neighborhood and is an affable person.

Enmity, professional jealousies, business rivalry are farfetched. The involvement of disgruntled employees is a point for consideration. In the past same row of shops were burgled tampering the tiled low roof.

The dastardly act is pure vengeance of deep seated revenge and is an attempt to stoke communal riots in the area.

The investigations agency may not have direct clues but the case needs to be pursued meticulously to unearth the motive however long it takes.

The outlet is doing a yeoman service to the neighbourhood and fanatical fringe elements could be involved in an attempt to dictate food choices of predominantly Catholic community as Muslims and Hindus though sparse have always maintained balance of communal harmony.
