The latest news/videos on sewage release in Panaji is disgusting to say the least and I have to say at this point that the “Good” people have got what they deserve with well-known tainted politicians they elected to govern them. Despite being with the ruling BJP party, this disgust is there for all to “enjoy” as Smart City perks.
Coming to my main point, release of sewage into drains/fields by housing societies, hotels etc is a common occurrence in the States and all I see is the respective elected authorities sending only letters to the those concerned to stop. That’s all is see. I don’t see any stringent punishments like heavy fines, withdrawal of licenses and even arrests for those involved. Looks to me like the politicians and so called Goa State Pollution Control Board have no interest to address this massive menace all across the State. Is it not common sense for the authorities to put in very strong deterrents to proactively stop all this?
