Policemen in plain clothes have been reportedly deputed at various spots in all areas under Mapusa Sub division at Mapusa, Anjuna and Colvale police station jurisdiction and their staff have been directed to click the photographs of those not wearing helmets, riding triple seat, etc and to penalise them by imposing hefty fines on them. Well, this sounds like a real good initiative but I feel that people die in road accidents because of their own callousness as they simply don't know how to concentrate on the road and drive in Goa. And the worst part is that some of them think it's their birth right to consume alcohol and to drive recklessly at full speed on all roads of Goa.
I feel that the cops from the traffic cell should seriously start targeting and imposing hefty fines on such irresponsible people for habitually indulging in drunken driving, doing dangerous stunts, overspeeding, overtaking, talking on cellphones whilst driving, etc instead of plain clothes policemen clicking photos of those not wearing helmets, riding triple seat, etc to stop road accidents in Goa and issuing challans.
