The quality of governance is recognised as fundamental to ensuring the quality of life of citizens. Good governance is important as a determinant of the sustainability and strength of democracies. It is linked with the government’s capacity for knowledge, mediation, resource allocation, implementation and maintenance of key relationships. But, indeed, Goa needs roadmap for achieving greater milestones through impactful good governance initiatives by improving administration to provide a better quality of life to citizens. Citizens despair over the state’s inability to deliver the most basic public services “ law and order, education, employment, health, and drinking water. Whether or not state succeeds in improving governance, the rise of Goa remains the defining event of everyone's life. State should ensure proper utilization of resources for its peoples, ensuring sustainable development and make public administration more open, transparent and accountable. State has to make giant leaps to improve its governance records. The question of appointments, transfers and placements must be entrusted to independent and autonomous boards constituted on the lines of GPSC.
