Goa University oversees numerous colleges in Goa offering courses across science and non-science streams. In Panjim, institutions include both government-aided and self-financed colleges, with degree programs traditionally spanning three or four years.
Under the New Education Policy, many courses are now structured as four-year programs. However, several self-financed institutions have not clarified whether the fourth year will be implemented for specialized degrees such as BSc in Chemistry, Biology, Botany, Zoology, Physics, Biotechnology, and Computer Science.
This uncertainty has left students and parents confused about the completion of degree programs. Students are currently appearing for examinations without clarity about the continuation of their courses. The situation has created anxiety regarding their academic future. Although some private colleges have invested in new infrastructure, they remain unsure about curriculum implementation.
It is therefore essential for the University to issue a clear and timely notification regarding the fourth year across both aided and self-financed colleges, ensuring transparency and enabling students to plan their academic paths with confidence.
