In Goa, LPG home delivery is managed by registered distributors of major oil companies. The system is largely digital: customers book refills and are promised doorstep delivery, usually within 48 hours to a few days. But a key concern remains -- if delivery is meant for homes, why are many people receiving cylinders on roads? How are customers informed about delivery timing?
A mandatory safety step is the Delivery Authentication Code (DAC), or OTP, sent to the customer’s registered mobile number. The delivery person must verify this code upon delivery. However, in places like Arpora, cylinders are often handed over on the roadside instead of at the doorstep, raising questions about compliance.
Rules clearly state that distributors must deliver cylinders to homes. Yet, some delivery staff ask residents, especially in buildings, to collect cylinders from the ground floor, which violates norms.
Authorities need stricter enforcement of these rules.
