Kitchen and other waste water is being directly discharged by restaurants on Benaulim beach without any treatment. Gutters and drains have been built with impunity by these establishments to divert water into the sand at night.
This constitutes not only a criminal offence destroying the environment but also creates unhygienic and unsanitary conditions for beach users. Besides it makes approaching the beach itself very difficult and dangerous.
I would request the panchayat and municipal authorities to immediately take action against such rogue elements including but not limited to closing them down for a limited period as penalty.
As it is there is so much degradation of our beaches going on.
