Every now and then when the taxi drivers are not at their best behaviour (not fixing fare meters, not using metres, charging as per their wish and will even for short distances, rash driving, etc) the transport minister warns them that he would bring Ola and Uber to Goa. This statement riles the drivers/owners and they become agitated. Since Ola and Uber would be employing the local taxi and auto drivers then why a disenchantment towards these well-paying companies? These companies are aggregators and not aggravators yet, the taxi drivers are afraid that their services would take a hit. The drivers could anytime switch off the application and ply for known clients and charge whatever they want to. Since already Goa Miles is being used successfully there need not be an animosity towards Ola and Uber. The people need to have a choice and best of travel services while the drivers should have an attitude of ‘bhivpachi garaz na.’
