Think twice before eating all kinds of trash food

This is with reference to the report "Food for thought: obese adults in India rising - The Goan Everyday, July 8, 2022.This report, The State of Food Security and Nutrition in the World 2022 by UN agencies Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO), International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD), UNICEF, World Food Programme (WFP) and the World Health Organisation (WHO), makes for disturbing reading. We need to wake up to reality. According to the report, although the number of undernourished people in India has declined, the number of obese adults in India grew to 34.3 million in 2016 from 25.2 million in 2012. We are aware that obesity is a big health issue. All too often we find doctors and dieticians advising people to reduce their weight. Treating an obese patient is very challenging not just for doctors but for the patients themselves. They are unable to walk properly and take care of themselves.

It's time therefore for us to think twice before eating all kinds of trash food, especially the younger generation.  Exercise too helps to a great extent. Being obese is definitely not good for one's self esteem, one tends to get depressed and becomes the butt of all jokes at times.  Let this report serve as 'food for thought', a wake up call!
