The AAP government had changed the Excise Liquor policy for 2021-22 to bring in private players which would increase revenue for the government and offer attractive rebates and variety of liquor at bigger stores for better shopping experience for customers! However it appears the BJP via the Lieutenant Governor acted to spike any innovative new scheme since they can control the elected government's policies. So favouring vendors and corruption is alleged. With experience dealing with the Centre, the AAP reverted to the old liquor policy controlled in government shops! Not permitting liquor leads to disastrous consequences for example, recently the Allahabad High Court has held the UP government liable to pay compensation for deaths caused due to consumption of spurious liquor, or in Gujarat, another BJP state where liquor is banned for quite some time now but reportedly easily available in the blackmarket. There cannot be unity in diversity with intolerance!
