Together for Ribandar has a combination of experience and new faces for the three wards of Ribandar in the March 20 elections to the Corporation of City of Panaji. In Ward No 28 Keshav Narayan Sawant, Ward No 29 Rupesh Ravindra Halankar and Ward No 30 Suvarsha Tukaram Naik are the three candidates. An issue is raised as to why I did not ensure that one of these three candidates was a Catholic. Throughout my childhood, I have grown up happily with friends from diverse communities. Caste, creed or religion hardly mattered. India is a diverse country and we must all ensure that our temples, mosques, and churches, besides other places of worship, become our focal points to unite diverse communities instead of creating rifts amongst us. We are after all children of that one loving and extremely tolerant God. For the society to progress and prosper, we need to have individuals in public life with competence, honesty, dedication, humility, experience and selfless determination above all else. The social and political arena cannot be about personalities or religious and caste differences. It is much more than that.
