Goa attained it's Statehood on May 30, 1987 and on this day it officially declared as India's 25th State by the then Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi.
This year marks the 35th Statehood day for Goa. Indeed it is an important day for all Goans as it helped to shape Goa's distinct identity.
Goa, the smallest State of India is today famous throughout the world for its rich culture and traditions. On this special day we need to thank not only our Indian Army and leaders of India but also our Goan freedom fighters and leaders like T B Cunha, Berta Menezes Branganca and many others who fought till the end for Goa.
Till today, our niz Goenkars who are born and brought up in Goa know the true history and geography of Goa.
However, there are divisive forces who want to destroy our beautiful Goa. There is widespread destruction of forests and unplanned development going on.
We need to protect and cherish our land and stop those greedy land sharks from destroying our Bangarachem Goem.
