Last week the Central Government transferred an IAS couple, the husband to Ladakh and the wife to Arunachal Pradesh since as per media reports they had misused their official positions.
The media alleged that the Thyagraj Stadium (New Delhi) was regularly closed for sports activities and curtailing the practice time for athletes since the couple could take their dog for walk/run. One needs to admire the cheekiness of the couple for their pet peeve.
The next time someone says ‘leading a dog’s life’ just remind them of this episode. By the way, why are only IAS couples generally posted/transferred to the same State in India? Can couples working for State governments such as teachers, ask to be posted in the same place/school?
They can at least save time and expenses made on fuel and transport. Or is the privilege of posting in a common place meant only for Central government employees?
