The Sunburn EDM festival was shunted out because of its numerous violations. It is strangely is trying to make comeback. Now the government wants to foist it on Salcete. The people have raised a hue and cry to stop the shifting. The music is not indigenous and it is drugs, prostitution, criminal activities that are the attraction and strain on law and order, traffic regulations et al. Goa is not on world rudder of tourism because of EDM. The so-called revenue benefits outweigh peace and tranquility issues and is corrupting youth. Goa needs to aggressively promote our own music and culture. In December there are enough enjoyable and entertaining activities that are a draw. Instead government needs to provide better infrastructure and law and order measures. Criminal activities, murders, rapes and robberies have sullied the image of Goa as tourist paradise. Tourists are enamoured with local flavour of our customs, culture, etc and not imported EDM festivals. Govt should take note of feelings of the people or risk mass protests.
