The other day when I had to rush to the pharmacy in Panaji to get some emergency medicines which I could not get in Manipal pharmacy at Dona Paula for my wife who is seriously ill, my two-wheeler was blocked at Miramar, near Sharad Mandir School. The crowd was so much that I couldn't move at all. The footpath opposite Science Centre was full of scooters upto Aivao village. Near the Miramar circle, it was completely full of buses and vehicles on the road and policemen could not control the traffic at all. When I reached closer to one traffic policeman I asked him what is this? He replied, "Hem Amchem Moddem" and a little away from Foodland, many cars were parked on the footpath upto Kala Academy and towards indoor stadium. Most of the cars are from outside Goa.
We are in November and by December the Christmas season is coming and one wonders what will happen to traffic? Government must come up for some solution or else there going to be a stampede and chaos on the road. Goans will suffer surely and who is to be blame but our Chief Minister Pramod Sawant for allowing the bordering vehicles and tourists entering our State. Once I reached near Panaji market l saw another construction in the river going on and concrete pillars deing erected for a bridge for cycling and many trees have been destroyed for a road for cyclists to trave along side the river after destroying the beauty of environment and mangroves by Tourism department. Panaji city is in mess and I doubt this city will ever be a smart city.
