Transformers cannot be left open

Exposed transformers along roadside prove dangerous for the lives of innocent pedestrians proceeding on their way. In Ponda we often come across such cases at different locations. In the initial stages the electricity department had introduced a locking system for transformers erected along the roadside. However the system seems to be discouraged and hence transformers exist in a neglected condition thereby risking human lives. There is an exposed transformer in the vicinity of Two-Pillars at Queula village in Ponda. As of Wednesday May 5, the same was noticed totally exposed thereby turning the situation dangerous for the pedestrians proceeding along this strategic route. In case children happen to touch live electrical wires located inside this transformer, they are likely to receive an electric shock.

The higher officials at the electricity department in Ponda should take a note of the above matter and issue necessary instructions to linesmen to rectify such defects on priority basis. A proper locking system for transformers would go a long way in assuring safety to one and all.
