Chief Minister Pramod Sawant has urged people to reduce their use of two-wheelers and cars and instead opt for public transportation!
Whilst there is no argument that public transport is anytime the better alternative, the Sawant along with his Transport Minister should introspect on the sad state of transport services and poor transport infrastructure in such a small state!
It appears that ministers driving comfortably in luxury cars are totally disconnected from the challenges faced by the common man! Ministers and top bureaucrats should set an example by opting for public transport.
In Colva for instance, there are no direct buses from to Margao and commuters have to take the longer, tiresome route via Benaulim etc and waste valuable time.
If this is the case in Colva, how worse will it be with other remote places in Goa?
Also the deteriorated/mismanaged/dirty state of the major bus terminals -- Panaji, Margao, Ponda, Vasco -- are an absolute embarrassment and total contradiction to the government’s good governance policy.
Sawant should ensure top rated transport infrastructure, hubs and services, before making such statements!
