Transport woes of patients of South Goa

The South Goa District Hospital has significantly eased the burden on GMC, providing medical facilities to those in remote areas who faced challenges traveling to Bambolim. This government initiative benefits all patients, including seniors. People from places like Sanguem, Canacona, etc., can reach Margao KTC but struggle to access the hospital just two kilometers away.

No regular city buses or accommodating long-distance buses exist on this route. Rickshaws charge excessively without meter fares. The government insists on installing meters but lacks the political will to enforce it. Patients must either spend money or walk to the hospital.

Introducing a Kadamba shuttle service from the Hospital to the Old Bus stand, starting every half an hour and collecting commuters on the return trip, is crucial. This will greatly relieve patients and improve access to treatment and government schemes. Hopes are that concerned authorities will act, or the Health Minister will promptly address the issue, alleviating patient suffering and leaving a lasting impact.
