The Zuari Agro Chemicals Ltd land issue remains unresolved and under scrutiny. The land, measuring approximately 50,000 sq mts, was allotted in 1968 by then Chief Minister Bahusaheb Bandodkar for industrial and fertilizer use.
However, concerns have arisen over its alleged sale, first raised during the July 2022 Assembly session. At the time, the Revenue Department stated it would seek a legal opinion from a senior advocate, but no definitive answer was provided.
In 2025, the department claimed the entire land belongs to Zuari Agro, asserting the company’s ownership rights. However, questions persist, as the land reportedly falls under comunidade property, which legally cannot be sold. The land has allegedly been sold in parts to builders and individuals, raising further concerns.
Despite the matter being referred to the PMO and the Collector's office, no follow-up reply or action has been tabled in the Assembly. The state continues to await a clear answer: does the Zuari land still belong to Goa, or has it been illegally sold?
