Wearing masks need to be mandatory in hospitals

The Goa Health Minister reportedly said on Monday that though the state is witnessing an average number of daily COVID-19 positive cases, there is no need for unnecessary panic. COVID-19 management preparedness was held at the Goa Medical College Hospital (GMC) Bambolim as part of the nationwide drill that was conducted to review the emergency preparedness of both, public and private hospitals amid a spike in the COVID-19 positive cases.

It must be said that hospitals can be hot-spots for the spread of the coronavirus as patients with different kinds of sickness come here for treatment. Many could have a reduced immunity. Some could even be suffering from COVID-19 and the virus could spread among visitors to the hospitals.

Hospital employees who handle patients could be vulnerable to the infection. Hence, it would be prudent to make it mandatory for the staff, patients and visitors to the various private and government hospitals including primary health centers in Goa to wear the face mask when present within the hospital premises.
