It seems like justice has finally been served in the case of a minor girl raped around nine years ago, handing out a 25-year rigorous imprisonment sentence to an MLA from Uttar Pradesh. It has taken around nine years but it is said the wheels of justice move slowly but they surely do move. In the past, it does not seem like any sort of punishment has prevented sexual assaults on women and children. One hopes, however, that this sentence would ideally serve as a deterrent to others intending to commit such acts in future. In this case, the MLA should be stripped of his pension and all emoluments earned during these nine years should be recovered from him.
