When drunk tourists cause crashes and cops look away

An outstation vehicle driven by a resident of Thane, Maharashtra reportedly collided with two two-wheelers on Baga road in Calangute on Thursday late evening, knocking down a man and a couple with a child, leaving them seriously injured.
The incident triggered angry scenes at the accident site as locals prevented the vehicle from being taken to the police station after finding bottles of alcohol (as is common in such cases) in the car. Officers allegedly attempted to protect the driver and his companions. Of course, the Calangute Police have now registered an FIR against the said driver for name’s sake, for allegedly driving in a rash and negligent manner and injuring three people.
Well, the cops must have already allowed the said driver to go scot-free by now because this is exactly what they have been doing after every accident in Goa. Instead of giving justice to the accident victims, the police are swiftly doing their own "settings", quoting rates and accepting bribes under the table at their stations, casually allowing such irresponsible, nuisance-creating tourist drivers to walk out free.
The government must not only take strict action against such corrupt cops who habitually indulge in these illegal acts, but also compulsorily cancel the licences of those caught driving under the influence of alcohol and imprison them for up to five years for causing death or serious injury due to their negligence. This will bring discipline and reduce road accidents in Goa.

Another mishap, soon after a fan came crashing down in a government primary school. Whatever happens, however, there is an explanation”a monkey jumped onto the roof through a gap in the roof. But how did that gap come about? Someone needs to answer.…
