Why IFFI still matters for Goa

The 56th International Film Festival of India (IFFI) in Goa is once again a proud moment for the state. Hosting a large event like this helps Goa in many ways. It brings more tourists and also gives Goa an important place on the global cultural map, which supports long-term growth and keeps the state connected to the world of arts and ideas.

IFFI is a platform where film-makers, artists, and cinema lovers from across the world meet, share ideas, and show their work. Every year, many young film-makers also get a chance to learn from experienced professionals and improve their skills.

A key part of the festival is the closing ceremony, where major competitive and special awards are presented. These awards recognise good work in cinema and encourage more creativity among both new and established film-makers.

The festival also supports local businesses, creates jobs, and promotes Goa as a lively centre for art and culture. Hotels, restaurants, transport operators, event workers, and many small vendors earn well during this time. Local talent also gets visibility through performances, exhibitions, and collaborations. The festival atmosphere adds energy to the state and reminds us that Goa is much more than just beaches and nightlife.

We thank the film industry and the Government of Goa for their efforts in making IFFI successful every year. Their hard work ensures that Goa remains a proud and welcoming host of this international celebration of cinema.
