Yellow alerts for two weather conditions

It is probably very rare that the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) issues yellow alerts for two extreme weather conditions in the state within a couple of days.

The IMD has issued a yellow alert forecasting persistently dry weather conditions until April, 9. On the other hand a yellow alert had also been issued for a thunderstorm.

Heavy rains and powerful winds caused widespread damage and disruption of life in Sattari. Some remote areas of Sattari also experienced hailstorms.

On the contrary in some parts of the state IMD has forecast a maximum temperature of 35 to 37 degrees centigrade and the ‘feel-like’ temperature crossing 45 degrees in the coming days.

It must be said of late the weather pattern has become very unpredictable which has led to two distinctly different yellow alerts being issued. While in some parts of the state there is a heat-wave, other parts are experiencing thunderstorms.

This could be the result of global warming.
