Waqf Bill: Legal land grab

Soon after the Waqf Bill was passed in Parliament, an online article (now pulled down) in the RSS mouthpiece, 'Organiser' falsely claimed that Catholic institutes hold 7 crore hectares of land, thus making them the largest private landowners.

This is simply dog-whistling to the Sanghi cadres to go after Christian properties next, the same modus operandi was employed to prepare the base before the Waqf Bill was tabled in Parliament.

It won’t take long for the present regime to turn its attention towards real estate assets owned by Sikh Gurdwaras, Jain temples, Parsi community trusts, Christian institutions, Buddhist monasteries, tribal sacred groves and even charitable trusts that serve the underprivileged.

When their nefarious agenda is achieved, the bigots will finally turn their attention to the vast land holdings of the Hindu temple trusts too, no religious or cultural institution will remain untouched by the predators.

This is not about bringing in transparency in the functioning of religious bodies or caring about the people, it is simply legalised land grab by the government which would later distribute the assets to their capitalist cronies and funders. We should fight it tooth and nail.
