Zero tolerance must be shown towards dumping of waste

It is learnt that the St Andre MLA caught a truck driver dumping waste under the Atal Setu bridge along the main road which leads to Panaji. After reportedly lodging a complaint with the police for such an activity by the same truck earlier, the vehicle was caught and later released after imposition of a fine. It is shocking to note that garbage is being dumped along the main road without any fear of being caught by the authorities. Such illegal activity is now reportedly taking place in broad daylight. Dumping of waste by trucks and other vehicles by the roadside and water-bodies is a serious matter and there needs to be zero tolerance towards such illegal activity. Dumping waste in the water bodies can destroy the mangroves. It can also be a health hazard for people living in the locality. Strict action needs to be taken against those dumping the waste in open spaces. The vehicle caught in the act needs to be impounded and the driving license of the driver needs to be cancelled.
