Zoning plan at Pernem put on hold

After a significant outcry, the zoning plan has been put on hold by the TCP minister, Vishwajit Rane. Just a few days ago, he publicly criticized the Mandrem MLA for an illegal farmhouse in the fields, and shortly thereafter, the plan was withdrawn, considering the sentiments of the locals. However, the MLA accused of 16B and illegal construction later appeared in the media to thank the TCP minister. According to the plan, houses and fields are impacted, but the minister has assured that it will be revisited after consulting with local panchayats, members, and the public. The plan will be based on the suggestions and objections of the people’s opinions.

Now, the question arises as to why the TCP minister, who was previously steadfast in his support of the plan, suddenly decided to scrap it in the interest of the public and the locals of Pernem and Mandrem constituency. The Chief Minister, along with another local MLA, has assured the people of a revised plan that will incorporate public opinions and input from local panchayat members.

Whether there is a consensus between the ministers or with the public remains uncertain, but the current news indicates that the zoning plan for Pernem has been put on hold, and there are no further discussions on the plan at this time. The new plan will be developed with fresh ideas and the opinions of locals, with their interests protected. Until then, the only option for the people of Goa is to wait and watch.
