Zuari mishap: Clamp down on rash driving

Goans were shattered with the news of the accident and the tragic death of four people from Loutolim. The accident has raised eyebrows how the SUV plunged into the river after smashing the railing of the Zuari bridge.

The fact is that after 10 pm all vehicle drivers are of preset mind that there is not much traffic on roads and hence tend to drive fast.

There should stringent action against rash driving and the government should make use of latest technology on bridges and national highways.

Drivers should be penalised and challans should be sent by post if they are captured on CCTVs flouting norms. CCTVs need to be installed on all bridges and highways. Government should not be blamed all the time as it is the responsibility of the driver to drive with caution.

The above incident will remain in the history and will be a lesson for those in the driver’s seat. This should be an eye opener for all vehicle drivers to take caution while driving their vehicles.
