In India, you can openly beat up people and crack open their skulls, then go on a podcast and boast about how you were not even sent to jail because a BJP-ruled state minister is your elder brother, a Union Cabinet minister is your elder brother and you are great friends with the Mahamanav. And while, as a rule, anyone even raising his voice against the current Government will be sent to jail. The “Hindutva Warriors”, whose idea of defending their faith is brutally beating up others, will remain free to commit more crimes and would be rewarded by the regime. You can also pick up a senior government bureaucrat for interrogation while he is out for his morning walk; the police can beat up a journalist simply because she belongs to the minority community and dared to ask questions of the CM and HM of Delhi. How low can a society fall? A day will come when “Sab Taj uchaale jayenge, Sab Takht giraaye jayenge” (All crowns and all thrones shall be ground to dust).
