It is inspiring to witness the people of Velsao finally standing up against the railway authorities and government, with the support of Vijay Sardesai and Amit Patkar. Yes they bulldozed the construction materials of Railways on Goan private properties —without any permission—marks a true fight for justice. How dare the Railways and government encroach on private land with impunity? The blatant disregard for constitutional rights is alarming and unacceptable. Where is the local MLA? Despite the powerful slogan “Goyant Kollso Naka” echoing across Goa, the police have registered false cases against innocent citizens, under the influence of top politicians and their business cronies. This is an attack on democracy and the people’s will. Valor to Vijay and Amit—your solidarity with the people inspires hope. Remember, the people have the power to make heroes out of zeroes and reduce tyrants to nothing. The voice of Goans cannot be suppressed forever. If these injustices continue unchecked, Goa may witness protests as massive as Delhi’s Jantar Mantar, with citizens rising in overwhelming numbers. It is time for the authorities to listen, respect rights, and uphold justice.
