Just before the elections, the government and municipality authorities have placed foundation stones for pending projects like parking and the historic renovation of the Margao Municipality building. While this seems like a positive step, it reminds us of previous grand celebrations where many foundations were laid but the actual work never began. Empty promises have long frustrated the people of Margao. The parking issue in Margao remains one of the biggest problems affecting daily life. It is encouraging to see some movement now, and hopefully, the PWD minister's involvement will bring real change rather than just symbolic gestures. The MMC building desperately needs renovation—replacing doors, windows, fans, and lights with LED fittings, removing broken pole lights, and discarding old cupboards. Beyond physical repairs, there is a pressing need to restore discipline among the staff. Margao’s issues should not be politicized but resolved sincerely in the public interest. The people deserve genuine development and respectful governance—not empty promises or power games. Let this election season bring real change, not just foundation stones.
